Gorp Bars

Snacks were very important when my kids were young. At one point, we combined two of their two equally favorite snacks, gorp and marshmallow bars and came up with Gorp Bars. They were an instant hit and a welcome change from their usual snacks.

Everyone always wanted to help out when we run out of bars. The kids always wanted to make sure that the bars turned out just right, so they would pull up a stool and help stir and press.

These bars are a great way to get your kids to excited about working in the kitchen. They are impossible to mess up. With an adult or older child handling the melted butter and marshmallows, even the smallest ones can safely measure and mix the ingredients.

Use a large bowl, so they have plenty of room to stir.

Easy to make and transport, these colorful treats are great to take for picnics and parties.
